The following are several resources for people who are grieving for a loved one or friend. Be sure to check out the resources section of their web sites. There are more resources that you may find of value on the Internet, in your local telephone book, or are featured in your local newspaper.

Organizations that typically offer grief and bereavement support are local religious institutions, pastoral counseling centers, hospitals, mental health or social services agencies, funeral homes, hospices, YMCA or similar organizations, and men's and women's support/discussion groups.


Good Grief Resources
This is one of the most complete collections of grief support resources you will find on the Internet. It has everything from articles, books, magazines, and videos to support groups, counselors and camps for kids who have lost loved ones.
Grief Recovery Online for All Bereaved
GROWW offers a wide variety of grief and bereavement resources including chat rooms with compassionate people.
American Association of Retired People
AARP provides a great deal of information about coping with grief and loss as well as support groups, discussion groups and the practical and emotional things to do after losing a loved one. Go to:
The Compassionate Friends

Bereaved Parents of the USA
BP/USA offers support, understanding, compassion and hope to bereaved parents, grandparents and siblings after the death of their children, grandchildren or siblings. The organization has chapters in many US states.
Dougy Center for Grieving Children
Through their National Center for Grieving Children and Families, the Dougy Center provides support and training locally, nationally and internationally. Their web site offers guidance on how to help a grieving child and teen, and discusses the issues of kids and funerals, and when death impacts your school. PO Box 86852, Portland, OR 97286. Survivors of Suicide
This organization helps those who have lost a loved one as a result of suicide to resolve their grief and pain.
Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors
TAPS, Inc. is a national, non-profit organization serving the families and friends of those who have died while serving in the Armed Forces.
